Creative reinterpretation of architectural space, architect Cho ByoungSoo reveals the beauty of regeneration

Discovery of wire, wire meets architecture, realization of engineering and aesthetics

The architect behind the regeneration of Kiswire Suyeong Factory into F1963,

Cho ByoungSoo is a master of reflecting both practical beauty and artistic sophistication through his works. His artistic focus on the fundamental physical properties of materials and uncovering their true underlying beauty breathes new life to inanimate materials. Cho invites natural elements into his creations while not sacrificing the purpose and functionality of the space, thereby his devotion and thoughtful regard for the people who will use and be in it can be felt through his architecture.
After establishing the architectural firm BCHO Architects Associates, Cho ByoungSoo worked on many projects with the theme of ‘experience and awareness,’ ‘existing and existed,’ ‘ㅡ’ shaped house, ‘ㄱ’ shaped house, ‘modern vernacular,’ and ‘naturalness and abstractness.’ He has taught design and theory at many universities including Harvard University, Universitat Kaiserslautern, Yonsei University and Montana University, and in 2014, he was the chair professor at the Arhus University in Denmark. His representative works include Kiswire Center, Namhae Linear Suite Hotel, ‘ㅁ’ shaped house, Twin Tree project and the Earth House. Cho has received many awards such as the Kim Soo Guen Award, National Architectural Culture Award, KIA National Award, and various AIA awards.
